Today in Human Geo class we looked at a power point and took notes about it.  The Power point was about Population and settlement. We learned that their are 7 billion people on the planet right now. Also, we learned that 90% of the population growth takes place in the developing countries Africa, South and East Asia, and Latin America. We learned that life expectancy is the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year. We learned that crude birth rate is the number of births per 1000 of the population and that crude death rate is the number of deaths per 1000 of the population. We also learned that most people migrate because its a push or pull. A push would be a civil war, environmental degradation, and religious persecution. A pull would be religious and political freedom, better health services and better economic opportunity.

Today in Human Geo class we took our test. I thought the multiple choice questions were very easy but the essay we kind of challenging but I did well on them. It was about Globalization and the Ancient Greeks. The test asked what the agora was and i answered that it was where they met for assemblies. The first essay question was the easiest that is my opinion though. I think i did really well on this test. I reviewed the stuff i did not know and I am pretty sure i have everything down now. I think i got a passing grade on this test.

Today in Human Geo class we shared our power points on Globalization. We all presented then we went reviewed what was going to be on the test tomorrow. We reviewed The ancient Greek's and who Socrates was and what his method was. We also went over his message about life. We went over what the agora was and it's where people met for assemblies. Also, we went over what a polis is and it is the name of a city state. Arete means exellence. We also went over how Socrates died. He drank a mixture containing poison hemlock and he took it like a man than died.

Today in class we reviewed about behind the swoosh again. We went over why we thought that it was wrong for Nike to do that. We talked about how people made signs and protested against Nike. We learned that they were supposed to pay them 4 bucks a day but actually forced them to make 3.75 a day. We did the math and it saves them around 51,000 dollars for paying them this much. This is a terrible way to treat your workers but they have to take it because they need the money. It's crazy that a company does not care about it's workers. Its sad that Nike actually treats people this way and never even care about them.

Today in class we watched a video about Nike. The narrator's name was Jim and he played pro soccer and was an coach at St.Johns. He did not agree on wearing Nike because even though they were paying him to wear it, he thought of how much the people made. So he and a friend went to Indonesia and went to the Nike headquarters down there. He found out that workers make a $1.25 a day. He thought that Nike said they paid everyone fairly. He lived in Indonesia for a month with people that worked for Nike. They did not even have beds and the rooms were very small. Every time it rained rain would get in there house. Then Nike would dump the inside of the shoe which is rubber and they would burn it. This is a bad thing because rubber can have a toxic waste in it and they have children and if they breath that in they will get very sick. Then he confronted the CEO of Nike and the CEO did not even want to talk about it because he was eating with a friend. I think that the CEO did not even care about the people in Indonesia and that's bad because your the CEO of a company so everyone should be treated the same.

Mr. Schick asked us what does that guy need in order to have that cell phone We listed facts like the guy needs electricity, money to pay for the phone, he needs to have service to talk on the phone, and needs someone to talk too. Today in Human Geo class we talked about 9-11 and Globalazation. We started with 9-11. Mr.Schick told us where he was and how he felt. I bet it probably was a very sad day for America that day. Mr. Schick wanted us to ask our parents where they were when it happened and how they felt about the situation. Then, we talked about globalazation. Globalazation is the interconnection of different parts of the world. Its amazing that Mcdonald's is all over the world. It's crazy that one company can be that big.

Today in human geo class we went over Google drive. Google drive is where you can make documents for projects and other things. But, the cool thing is that when you are doing a project with your friends you just log on to g mail and your in a group chat with all the other people in your group so you don't even have to go over peoples houses which is a lot better. We just log on through our computer and you can get your work done. I liked that Mr. Schick showed us this because now its a lot easier on us and our parents so they don't have to drive us anywhere.

One fact that i thought was crazy was that soon China will be the number one English speaking country in the world. This is shocking because English is there second language and its our first. I was also shocked that they said today's learners would have 10 to 15 jobs at the age of 38. This is crazy because back then you had one job and that was it for the rest of your life. I think this  not shocking though because all people want to do is make more money. Its amazing that if Facebook was a country it would be the 3rd largest country in the world. Its crazy how much Facebook has evolved from when it started. So many join Facebook everyday so its not shocking about that fact. Its amazing how things can change over time.

Today in class we reviewed about Socrates. Steven taught the class today and did a very good job. We learned that Socrates was put to death because they thought he corrupted the youth of Athens and disrespected the gods. They mad him drink  a mixture containing poison hemlok. I thought that he did nothing wrong. All he did is make people think what if that happened which is nothing wrong with that he just wants you to think more. Socrates did nothing wrong he just wanted people to think more.
